A. Just asking for Tobacco Road can yeild varying results -- even when using the same brand, grade, and sheen! A specific formula and a swatch is the only way to know what you're going to get.
As a color consultant I've had Tobacco Road custom matched in various brands always using my expertise to ensure a spot-on match to the original Tobacco Road chips from Duron. You can buy a hand-painted sample with my favorite Tobacco Road formula right on the back -- it's everything you need to get the original Tobacco Road.
Over time, I played with different formulas; cutting by 50% and then 25% to meet specific color challenges. See the virtual sample of all three above. Keep in mind color on monitors is not completely accurate, but you can get an idea of what the colors look like.
Sherwin Williams acquired Duron the paint company and, of course, their color palette as well. The deal is that Sherwin Williams does not stock any of the old Duron paint chips but they can still mix the colors from the Duron palette. Sounds like a good plan but when it comes to Tobacco Road, it doesn't always work out. To make sure you get "THE" original Tobacco Road, you need more than just the name and color number.
Tobacco Road is just as relevant today as it was several years ago. Samples with my favored formulas are available to help you manage through the chaos of trying to get your hands on the real deal Tobacco Road.

- Hand-painted sample using a widely available brand, Benjamin Moore Regal Premium Interior Paint in Matte Finish
- Sample is two "full" coats of paint for best color resolution
